Adam Lambert strains voice; will be OK to start tour in a weekPosted by John J. Moser at 03:56:51 PM on May 26, 2010
Adam Lambert, last year’s ”American Idol” runner-up, who is scheduled to start his first tour a week from Friday, has strained his voice, a spokeswoman for his record label said today.
Lambert was supposed to hold a telephone news conference Thursday in advance of the start of his tour June 4 at F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre. He is scheduled to play Bethlehem’s Musikfest festival on Aug. 13. Tickets are still available.
But RCA Records spokeswoman Vanessa Fine said in a statement this afternoon that she “just received some unfortunate news – apparently Adam has strained his voice” and had to postpone the conference.
Fine said the strain will not affect the start of Lambert’s tour, and that she hoped to reschedule the conference for next week.
She said she did not have information on how the strain occurred. His website included no word of the strain.
Lambert gave an energetic performance of his song “If I Had You” on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” on Friday.
As of this afternoon, there are six newly available $139 tickets to the catered café area at Lambert’s Musikfest show. At the 7,500-seat RiverPlace main stage, there also were 444 reserved tickets at $37 left and 1,061 lawn tickets at $25 each.
Lambert’s debut disc “For Your Entertainment” was at No.72 on Billboard’s albums chart this week, and the single “Whataya Want from Me” was No. 28, after peaking at No. 10.
